Sometimes it is relational. And sometimes what looks like an individual problem is partly a response to the system around us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Interdependence begins with learning to see those layers more clearly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Interdependence Means Here<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Interdependence is about understanding ourselves not as isolated individuals, but as participants in systems of mutual influence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We affect others, and others affect us. Roles, expectations, power, history, culture, structures, and unwritten rules all shape how people relate and what choices feel available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This does not mean giving up personal agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It means holding two questions at the same time:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What is mine to take responsibility for?<\/strong><br><strong>And what belongs to the wider system?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That distinction can change the way we approach conflict, boundaries, leadership, belonging, responsibility, and change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What We Might Explore Together<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Coaching in this area may include questions such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What pattern keeps repeating here?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What role am I playing in this system?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What expectations am I carrying, and where did they come from?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where is responsibility clear, and where has it become blurred?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What influence do I actually have?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where are power differences shaping the situation?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How do I respond when my values and the surrounding system do not align?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What belongs to me to address, and what does not?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How can I stay in relationship without abandoning myself?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What would a more responsible or sustainable way of participating look like?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The goal is not to reduce every difficulty to \u201cthe system.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is to see enough of the whole picture that you can respond with greater clarity and choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Deeper Perspective<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many approaches to change focus primarily on the individual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Improve your communication.<br>Set a better boundary.<br>Manage your stress.<br>Become more resilient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those things can matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But sometimes the difficulty is not simply a lack of individual skill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A workload may be unrealistic. A role may contain conflicting expectations. A workplace culture may reward behaviour that undermines well-being. A family pattern may have been reinforced for years. A system may distribute power unevenly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Seeing this does not make us powerless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It can help us stop taking inappropriate responsibility for what is larger than ourselves while becoming clearer about the responsibility that genuinely is ours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Interdependence asks us to look at both: <strong>the person and the pattern.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Systemic Lens<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My background in sociology strongly shapes how I listen in coaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I am interested not only in what is happening inside the individual, but also in the relationships, assumptions, structures, and pressures surrounding the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That may mean noticing a repeated interaction pattern, an unspoken expectation, a conflict between formal and informal roles, or the difference between an individual challenge and a structural one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The intention is not to analyse people from a distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is to create enough perspective to see what may otherwise remain hidden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\" style=\"background-color:#7d906075\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-7387b849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a coach, I listen not only for what is happening within you, but also for what may be happening around you: the relationships, expectations, roles, power dynamics, and systems that shape what feels possible.
